Engineering Lead

Now, about this opportunity… As an Engineering Lead at Judo, you’ll sit at the heart of delivery, helping shape how we build and deliver technology across the bank. Reporting to our Head of Engineering & Architecture, you’ll lead engineering execution within a squad or domain, balancing hands-on technical contribution with leadership, coaching and delivery ownership. Working closely with Product Managers, Architects and Delivery Leads, you’ll play a key role in building scalable services and digital experiences that support our bankers and customers. As part of a lean, high-performing engineering team that has recently delivered a core banking migration to Thought Machine, you’ll help drive the next phase of Judo’s technology evolution.

• Leading the delivery of engineering outcomes within a squad or domain, from design and build through to production
• Remaining hands-on with development, engineering high-quality, maintainable and production-ready software
• Driving engineering excellence across code quality, testing, deployment, documentation and operational practices
• Providing technical leadership, guiding architectural and implementation decisions across the team
• Coaching, mentoring and developing engineers to build capability, confidence and technical expertise
• Creating clarity, ownership and momentum by removing blockers and supporting successful delivery outcomes
• Driving continuous improvement across engineering practices, team effectiveness and ways of working
• Working with modern cloud-native technologies including AWS, Thought Machine and event-driven architectures
